EXCERPT FROM A RECENT INTERVIEW:

LK: ...Hello Doug. It's a pleasure to have you back again as a guest. Let's begin with a simple question; as an artist, inspiration comes to you how?

DBC: ...Great question Lar. I'd have to say that inspiration comes to me in many ways; from the raw, sweet smell of the outdoors to a funny or disturbing event in the news.

LK: ...You sound very open-minded.

DBC: ...Yes, my open-mindedness is also very reflective of my work. Because I have very few pre-conceived notions about what art “is” and “is not”, I’m never quite sure of exactly where the creative journey will take me until I actually get there.

LK: ...How do you know when a journey is over?

DBC: ...Usually I hear a funny little inner voice that tells me that I’ve arrived at my destination. If that little voice happens to get laryngitis, I'm in trouble.

LK: ...Because your overall body of work ranges from the conceptual, to the abstract, to the impressionistic, one could argue that it looks as though it could have been created by several very different artists.

DBC: ...Or one very confused one (laughing).

LK: ...Once again. this has been utterly fascinating but that's about all we have time for. Any final thoughts you'd like to share?

DBC: ...Yes. I hope you all enjoy my work. Send me an email and let me know what you think. I'd love to hear from you.

LK:... Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to be here.

DBC: ...Thank you.
